Blueberry Lake Resort
a quick getaway
Blueberry Lake Resort is a series of luxury log chalets in the hilly Labelle area, around half an hour from Mont Tremblant’s skiing resort. I am in love with this area and its natural rolling landscapes, beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings. For the past 7 years, I’ve been regularly making time every winter to stay at one of their chalets to have much needed relaxation, immersed in nature.
On our drive to the chalet, there was a cold snap and the thawing plants and trees around us were being re-frozen, leaving a glossy, shimmering cocoon of ice over every branch and leaf. The scenery was magical, the air was cool and crisp, the skies were clear, and I was getting restless to fly with every minute of daylight that passed. Upon arriving I immediately set up the Explorer drone and lifted off right from the parking lot to fit in a few minutes of flight and capture the remaining moments of the sunset and the gorgeous scenery around me. The first few shots of the video are from that moment, and you can see the reflection and shimmer of the sun off the icy branches.
I did not get a chance to fly the next day as the area experienced chunky snow and largely wet conditions, however I was able to lift off on the following day, a quiet Sunday morning. The sun was peeking through the clouds creating hot spots over hills and rivers, causing evaporation and fog in some areas. This resulted in some amazing foggy shots, and really showed the texture, the peaks and valleys of the area.
