SOUTHERN REGION // ICELAND

iceland

We continue our journey through Iceland through the southern region of the country. Our first stop is at the cube Brù Guesthouse a few minutes away from the waterfall Seljalandsfoss. The colourful landscape, filled with vibrant yellows, greens, blacks and purples is absolutely breathtaking and worth a stay. From there we venture to some of the largest geysers on the island, Strokkur. The complex of active geysers is surrounded by a beautiful park erupt every 5 - 15 minutes and they can be heard exploding from mountains away. The volcanic activity below the surface heats the surrounding waters creating, amongst geysers, mineral rich therapeutic spas and cooking. We stop at the nearby Geothermal Bakery to taste delicious bread cooked overnight by the boiling earth and waters of the area.

On the way to Reykjavik, we stop at the Akurgerði Guesthouse, a beautiful AirBnB on a horse form. With nature enveloping you, horses stoically grazing by, and hearing bird sounds uniqueto Iceland while soaking it all in with the geothermal hottub - this was an unforgettable stay. Arriving into the capital, we check out the amazing architecture of Hallgrimskirkja church, and go inside for a listen.
